Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection

This procedure allows us to fertilize an oocyte with only one single sperm cell. This is accomplished by maturing the oocyte until it has a polar body, purifying a sperm sample, injecting the sperm into the oocyte, culturing the injected egg until it divides (cleavage), culture in a controlled atmosphere of 5% O2, 5% CO2 and 90% N2 for 8 days. Once it becomes a blastocyst, it is transferred into a recipient mare transcervical like nonsurgical embryo transfer. In the next pages, these separate steps will be illustrated.
